My Blogs

Starting with the next email you get from me you will be reminded to "Check my blogs". I did this for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, I'm certain, is that as you all know I live by the prinicple that "Everyone is entitled to my opinion". Also tied to that is the I'm hoping that it will help me to be more diligent in posting on my blogs. What I post to this blog is mostly intended for close family and friends and, at least most of the time, will be more informational. The things I post on The World's Best Blog are meant for the world at large and are more of my feelings and opinions. I have recently posted some of my political thoughts, relating to the upcoming election. I also plan to post more on Movie Reviews and a new category I'm going to call, "This I Believe".

You will note that this blog has links to The World's Best Blog , but not vice versa. Again that is because of the intended audience of each.

Peaches

Well it won't be long now and we'll be eating and canning peaches. As you can see, they have really grown. So below are the photos of the peaches as of a couple days ago including the clumps that have grown. These have been deliceous peaches in the past. I hope they are this year too.

Split Head Update

We were over to Eric's last night and got a first hand look at the split head. First off, it was kind of hard to find because his hair covers it well. The gash does look much smaller, thought there are five staples there to hold the scalp together. It appears to be healing very well. As you might expect, he's just like any five year old and he's more proud of his staples than bothered by them or the abuse his head took.

Split Head

At 11:00 last night, just about to head for bed, for some reason I checked my email. What do I see? A strange looking email that does not look like spam so I go ahead and open it and see the photo below with the caption below it that says "Taydon hit Riley in the head with a golf club, he's OK though." Of course I had to worry who was okay, Taydon or Riley, because Riley sure didn't look okay, and depending on how it happened that Taydon hit Riley I didn't know if he was okay. I could see from the photo that it was taken in a doctors office or hospital, and since I had talked to Eric just a few hours earlier and he hadn't said anything then that it had to have happened after about 8:00 p.m. Also, the email was marked at arriving at 9:55 p.m. I called Eric this morning to find out what happened and how Riley was doing. First Riley is fine, considering. They did have to staple his wound closed, I didn't ask how many staples. Eric says Riley kept asking "Can I touch my nails?" Apparently Eric, Taydon and Riley were at Swan Lakes driving range practicing their drives. Riley was on the next practice tee behind Taydon. Taydon checked to see that he was clear but suddenly Riley decided he needed a tee and headed over towards his bag as Taydon went into his back swing. You can see the results. We pray for his quick healing and full recovery.

Visit from Roy and Janette

My brother Roy, his wife Janette and their grandson Brian were down for a few days recently to attend a family reunion on Janette's side. Fortunately they stayed with us so we got to see them some. It was very nice to see and visit with them. I feel bad that I don't get to see my brothers more often. I wish all our family could have seen them but because of their schedule we didn't get to see any of our children except Melissa and Jeff and that is only because we had some sandwiches at their brand new deli. They took us to see Glenn Beck at a theater in SLC, which was very interesting. I didn't know very much about him before that. Unfortunately his broadcast schedule is such that I never get to listen to him on the radio. They left right after church on July 20th, but before we went to church we took this photo to remember it by. Brian is not in the photo because he took it for us.
