Lest We Forget

Thank you, thank you, thank you Dustin and Tamra. In the past two weeks we have participated in two wonderful family traditions. For many years, as I heard tales is my sister Marilyn's annual get together with her family I thought about what a wonderful thing that is and would be for our family. Then one year Dustin and Tamra decided to do a camp out at Mustang Ridge near the Flaming Gorge resevoir. They invited any of us that would like to come up to join them. Low and behold several of us did. I don't even know how many years ago this was, but that started a tradition that eventually evolved to our current annual family get together. Something I look forward to excitedly every year. Check the other family blogs for their posts, and watch this one for future posts on our trip to Bear Lake this year.

Last night we participated in another Dustin and Tamra tradition. Several years ago they said they were going to go up and watch the Clearfield fireworks display for Independence Day. They invited us along. Over the years it has grown.

The photo below shows Jeanne (I took the picture so I'm not in it),Melissa and Jeff, Wade's family, Lori's parents, Dawnette and Halley Gaddis (The rest of their family was out of town various places), Lorie Sheridan and Chantelle and Kip.

The obvious missing persons are Dustin, Tamra, Sean and Anna. From the phone call we got I can just say they were a little too busy and a little too far away to join us. We hope they had a great 4th of July (anyway), because they are a big part of the reason that we did. Each year the number and the participants change slightly, though Wade and Lori and her parents have been pretty regular for the past few years and of course Jeanne and I almost every year.

I am so grateful to Dustin and Tamra for starting both of these WONDERFUL family traditions!

A Lot Can Happen in 16 Days

Only the Icing on the Cake

As I talked about Kathryn and family arriving yesterday I was reminded again about how excited I am about this upcoming week. Kathryn arriving was only the beginning, on Friday Dustin and his family will arrive in town and we get a Birthday party for Anna on Friday, that I will not get to attend because of work, but then on Monday we all head up to Bear Lake and for the first time in several years the whole family will be together for three nights. We just can't wait. We love all our children and grandchldren so much that this will be a major event in our lives that we will remember for the rest of them. We are soooooo thankful that they are all coming. Trevor will be a little late, but He'll be there next Tuesday and that will make it a full house. HOORAY!!!!

A Special Day

Today is a day I've been dreading for about a year, that is until about a month ago. Today was my birthday and so I'm another year older, but about a month ago I found out that Kathryn, Hallie, Megan and Campbell would be arriving today. What could be a better birthday gift than that. As expected, they got here safe and sound, and despite worries about their current health they all seem to be feeling great. Tonight we introduced Hallie and Kathryn to the Wii. Campbell wanted to get introduced to it to, but his mom was racing Hallie at the time. It didn't take Megan long to remember how much she enjoyed Barbie at Grandma's. Hallie also brought a brand new Webkinz and had to get on the computer and get him taken care of. I really wondered how Cambell would do with all of us strangers, but he warmed right up. We are soooooooo happy to have them here. Of course Melissa got here as fast as she could, and we were so happy for that too. Here are the first of what will probably be lots of photos of their trip.

The Rocky Road to Fame and Fortune

I have a little program/web site I use to track visitors to my blog. (It's free if you're interested). In the past I considered 4 or 5 unique visitors to be a big day. Above is a graph of the past week. Starting Monday I began a series of stories about a cover I am doing for Myrna for the DVD I'm doing for her. She put a notice on the APQS (The name of the company that makes the quilting machine Jeanne uses) forum and that got the ball rolling. It Has Begun

I was out mowing the lawn this morning when I saw it. For the first time this year, baby peaches. You may have seen the photos of the trees a couple weeks back on The World's Best Blog. Well now there are baby peaches, so we'll watch them grow. The first picture I took and looked back at it was hard to tell how small they are, so I stuck my thumb up close so you can get a size relationship. If you have never tasted these peaches, I'll tell you they are delicious!!! Remind me to post some more as they grow in a few weeks.

Spring is here

Colt has come to our house every Tuesday, Thursday and some Fridays this year while he is in kindergarten. He loves to play games on my computer. Quite often (and I don't know how he managed to do it) he would lose my desktop background. Scott would replace it for me since I don't have the know-how. The last time he had to replace the background, he put on this picture of our front yard. In the middle of the Winter, I would look out the window and see very deep snow covering the front yard and look at my desktop picture and think spring is coming this isn't going to last forever. I was amazed how it would brighten my spirits. I love flowers there is something about them that just draws me. A few weeks ago we were in Salt Lake when I saw a truck full of flowers and asked Scott if he saw them. Scott said no and we discussed the fact that you notice those things that are important to you. I remembered years a go Wade could see pigeons on the tops of tall buildings, under overpasses and in the air. I had never noticed them until he drew our attention to them. Now as an adult he raises pigeons with his children.

I have planted some annuals along with the many perennials I have and I'm looking forward to their beauty.

I had to take Kathryn's challenge, and for a guy who doesn't type as much as I did years ago I think I did okay. I'll admit that first I tried it on the laptop computer, but with the smaller keyboard I didn't do quite as well, I think I was around 46.

Exciting News

We got exciting news today! Kathryn and her children will be arriving in time for the Bear Lake "Camping Trip" and Trevor will arrive while we're up there. That means that there is a chance that the whole family can be there. We don't want to wish any bad luck on Makenna's soccer team, but we sure hope her schedule allows Wade and family to be with us to.

Upcoming Family Reunion

The Charles and Sarah Law Family Reunion is coming up on Saturday, August 9th. It will be held the same place we had the last Leland and Geneva Law reunion at the park there in Layton. We will get more info to you soon, but please mark your calendars and plan on attending.
