Personal Best

We got out again today. She's actually beginning to enjoy it. We did a new personal best for her. She kept saying she was sure her muscles were going to be sore, but it's been about 12 hours and so far so good. Okay, I cheated on the photo. This is one of them I took a couple days ago, but we did ride past the same house today, she was just wearing different clothes.

The Continued Chronicals

Didn't get Jeanne out on the bike today, we did some errands this morning so her knees were sore. I'll get her out tomorrow morning I hope. Anyway, I did a hair over 10 miles today. Temperature was around 60 I think and you couldn't see a cloud in any direction. I took several photos today along the ride. Here's one of what looks like a really old bird house for you.

Two Wheelers - Yep!

I haven't posted for a while on the Bycycle Chronicles. The truth is we haven't been out as much as we should have, but we still do get out. We went Saturday afternoon for a short casual ride around the neighborhood, and we got out today for a little longer and more vigorous ride. While snapping some photos I came very close to having an accident, but was able to get through it with no damage, especially to Jeanne. That's what I was worried about. Anyway, she did a good job of smiling for the camera. The photo below is as much to show you the fall colors as it is Jeanne.

We have been trying to find a used Schwinn AirDyne bike for the ugly winter days coming up so we can keep the muscles working. No luck so far. If you know anyone that has one they are not using and willing to sell for a reasonable price, let us know.

Eric and I Had a Nice Day Together Today

And it didn't even involve Golf. Last time Eric stepped foot inside the working part of a Temple was about 1992. I was thrilled to be with him today. I only wish I had had a real camera instead of just my cell phone, but on Novemeber 12th I'll have a better camera.

It Won't Be Long Now

When I married Jeanne I had a pretty good mustache. When I met her I actually had quite a handlebar mustache. As I look back at it now, I don't know how I got her to go out with me a second time, but she did. A few months after we had met I took a photo to give to her and even though I had been looking in the mirror with that mustache for some time, when I saw it in the photo it looked ridiculous to me so I cut off the handlebars and just kept it as a normal mustache. I didn't shave that off until Kathryn was about 18 months old, and when I went to get her out of her crib she wouldn't come to me at first. That was early 1980. I never grew facial hair again until around 2004, when I experimented with a goatee for about 4 weeks and then shaved it off. While Jeanne was away for a few days at BYU Education Week, I decided to try it again, and this one I've had for just over two months, though it seems longer. If you looked closely on any posts that included a photo with me in it over the past couple months you could see it but I thought I should get one good close up. I'm pulling a trick on a friend so it will be gone in a couple days, but I thought I should record it for posterity. As if posterity really cared.

What a Difference a Week Makes

The last post included photos from a snow storm a week ago. I brought your attention to some purple flowers that were poking out under the snow. This post is some close ups of some of the flowers in that snow covered garden one week later, along with a rose just a few feet away. Yes, if you look close you can see some signs of winter taking over and a little damage to the plants, but overall they look pretty good. Apparently the bee seems to think the pollen is still good for his honey too.

Early Snow

This is what we woke up to this morning. It has been a while since we had this much snow this early in the year. There have been many years when we didn't get snow before Thanksgiving, and certainly many more when we didn't have it by Halloween. The funny thing is that it has stayed much warmer than normal for most of September and even the first few days of October. Just in case you think I pulled out an old photo of last years snow. Look at how green the leaves are on this tree and how purple the flowers are in the bottom of the photo. It will be interesting to see what it looks like in a week or two.

Special Days

This really needs to be recorded for posterity, and our files. Two very important events have happened recently in Eric and his families lives, and I've been there to witness them. On Sunday, Sept 21, 2008, the day before her 1st Birthday, Presley was given and name and a blessing. This awesome event was held at their home and Eric exercised his Priesthood as an Elder and gave the blessing. Those of you who know Eric know what an exciting event this was for all of us.

And then almost a week later on Saturday, September 27th, Eric Baptized and Confirmed his son Taydon. Again, What an exciting event for all of us.

More on the Bicycle Chronicles

I got out there again today and did a hair over 8 miles. Not really very good since a couple years ago a typical ride would be 13 to 16 miles. Sadly I was a little tired after 8. Also, sadly, I didn't get Jeanne out because she was at a meeting while I was on my bike ride, but we'll try again tomorrow after work. I forgot to take my camera so I thought I'd better get some kind of image, so I posed for a photo, designed to look like I was riding and Jeanne snapped it for me. Do I look like I'm riding hard?

Short Ride today

Jeanne and I did get out for a short ride today. No photo though. Jeanne enjoys the rides even though it wears her out. Sometimes I go for a little longer ride afterwards but today the truck and car both needed washing pretty desperately so that's what I did instead. We'll keep plugging away.
